Urban Sky Garden

by Ernie Cecchetto on June 19, 2015

A quick search on the internet for failed green roofs will produce a variety of images showing issues similar to the one in the attached photo (courtesy of Green Roof Maintenance.com).

The designers / manufacturers of green roof systems are providing plant options that are “low maintenance” with little to no need of irrigation.

But what do you do when your system isn’t performing as designed? Then what…?

What if someone decided to reclaim that great plot of land and re-green it using a sustainable vegetable crop like, leaf lettuce perhaps?…

Roof Maintenance Solutions Inc. is embarking on a project to help “green”  beleaguered “green roofs”, while satisfying some local Not For Profit’s need to bring healthy / fresh produce to people in need.

We’re hoping that an Urban Sky Garden program will help satisfy our client’s desire for a greener roof surface…and a Not For Profit’s desire to feed the hungry healthier alternatives to canned veggies.

If you think this is a good idea, please leave a comment below! This initiative is going to take some considerable efforts, but I believe anything worth while usually does.
